The messages
My name is Dr. Praddy Kaushik. I'm a geospatial and data visualisation scientist, based in the Netherlands. Over the years, my inbox slowly filled with a different kind of message. Juniors, friends, and people I had never met wrote to me, often late at night: "I give my 100%, and I still keep hearing no." "I don't know how much longer I can keep trying."
Every message was different. Underneath, every one was asking the same thing.
The question I couldn't answer
I always knew what to tell them. Keep going. It's not about you. The right door will open. But I realised those words don't help much when your courage has run out. What they really needed to know was how. How do you get up the morning after a no? How do you stop one rejection from deciding who you are? What do you do when you have nothing left?
And honestly, I didn't have a real answer. Neither, it turned out, did most of the people I asked.
Where the answer lives
The people who know how to survive rejection best are the ones the world now calls successful: the founders and CEOs, authors and artists, actors, athletes and scientists whose profiles shine today. Every one of them has been told no, and has a moment they still remember. But we only ever see the win. The way they got through it, the part that could actually help someone, is almost never told.
My work as a scientist has always been about making the invisible visible. Rejection is the largest invisible dataset in every career. Everyone has it. Almost no one shows it. So I decided to build the place where it is finally shown.
What I am building
#UnfilteredProfile is a collection of the moments behind extraordinary success. The world's leading founders and CEOs, authors and artists, actors, athletes and scientists share one moment from before it all, often for the first time: the rejection they still remember, the night they believed it would not happen, and how they found their way through.
Each story here is more than a memory. It is a lesson in what rejection really feels like, what helped, what didn't, and what they would tell someone standing where they once stood. Read together, these stories become something no single piece of advice can be: a real way of dealing with rejection, even on the day your courage gives way.
My goal is to make this the world's most honest record of what success really looks like from the inside, and to put each story in front of the person who needs it most: someone who is about to give up.
